LEARN KARATE - KATA TIPS

Technique is the first area to work on in karate kata, concentrate first on getting the order of the kata correct, then slowly but surely work on the small detail of each karate move. Kime is where your body is relaxed, then tensed, then once again relaxed. On the fast moves in kata, try and stop completely, for a split second.

KARATE FOR BEGINNERS - THE WARM UP AND STRETECH

Keeping the body soft and supple should be a priority for all karateka. But before you start stretching, it is very important to warm the body up. An example could be, gently shaking the legs and arms, gently swinging the arms, walking slowly, then speeding the walk up and finally into a slow jog. Obviously this is just an example, but this demonstrates a warm up before the stretch.

People with good characters are liked and are content, people with bad characters, are not liked and are not content. One of the best ways to start working on the development of character through karate practice, is the bow (rei).

KARATE SPARRING

Karate sparring, known as kumite, is one of the most important segments of karate training, along with kata and kihon. It is a sort of exercise performed between at least two karate practitioners, using the techniques learned from the kihon and kata.
